Overview

Erie Copper Works LLC has supported the steel industry for over 50 years through precision
repairs and fabrication of Electric Arc Furnace components. We are seeking a Machinist
Apprentice to join our first-shift team.
This position is intended for students currently enrolled in a machining or manufacturing
program, or individuals who have recently completed such a program and are beginning
their career in the skilled trades.

Responsibilities
• Work under the guidance of experienced machinists to develop manual machining
skills
• Assist with setup and operation of manual machining equipment, including:
o Lathes
o Bridgeport-style vertical milling machines
o Horizontal boring mills
o Drill presses
o Other manual shop equipment
• Machine and repair parts to customer drawings and specifications
• Apply blueprint reading and machining fundamentals
• Inspect parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and
bore gauges
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area

Required Skills:
Required Qualifications
• Must be currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate (within the past 2 years) of, a
machining, manufacturing, or advanced manufacturing program
• Basic understanding of blueprint reading and shop math
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in machining
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen

Full or Part Time:
Part-Time (Work Study) or Full-Time

Hours:
7am-11am, 11am-3pm, or 7am-3pm

Monday-Friday

Wage:
Pay: $18.00 to $22.00 per hour (based on skill level)
