We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanics to join our team at the Michaels Distribution Center in Strongsville, Ohio. Warehouse Mechanics are responsible for maintaining, installing and repairing equipment within the Distribution Center. All duties performed while ensuring that all safety standards and operating procedures of the company are adhered.

Primary Responsibilities
• Perform preventive maintenance/repairs to warehouse equipment and conveyor
• Perform troubleshooting of conveyors and building electrical and control systems
• Perform project work to support warehouse operations
• Perform preventive maintenance such as air compressors, heating/ventilation, and plumbing/electrical
• Perform welding repairs and fabrication as needed
• Record maintenance and parts usage using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), work orders, and inventory management
• Follow proper lockout/tag out procedures as required and maintain a safe work environment
• Comply with all Michaels policies and Federal, State and local regulatory requirements
• Flexibility to complete other duties as assigned
• Train and mentor junior maintenance team members

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• High school education
• 2-year Technical Degree or 5 years equivalent maintenance experience on industrial equipment/military preferred
• Intermediate computer skills
• Work independently and/or as a team
• Good math skills
• Experience in basic and complex diagnostic and troubleshooting as well as routine repairs on mechanical equipment
• Accurately interpret drawing, blueprints and technical manuals in paper or electronic format
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines
• Operate all powered equipment in facility to include yard trucks, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts and maintenance vehicles

Physical Requirements
• Frequent lifting and carrying of product weighing 5 to 60 lbs
• Frequent pushing or pulling material and/or equipment
• Frequent standing and when driving powered industrial equipment
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling and twisting
• Occasional sitting to perform office tasks and review and enter data in computer
• Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers

Environmental Factors:
• Moderate noise level from DC conveyor/sortation system
• Occasional vibration when operating powered industrial equipment
• Mechanics will often be exposed to the usual lubricants and cleaning agents required for performing normal preventative maintenance
• Occasional exposure to fumes and airborne particles

Minimum requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
