Description:
\nThis is a semi-skilled position with on -the-job training, CDL-B training on site, and opportunities for growth. The person filling this role would be exposed to a wide variety of tasks across City Service Departments. We are looking for someone who is hard working and shows up with enthusiasm to help keep our beautiful City operating smoothly.<\/p>\n
Required Skills:
\nEDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:<\/p>\n
Some experience in performing semi-skilled maintenance or construction tasks.
\nAt least two years of experience in tree maintenance, landscaping, or lawn care preferred if working in the Parks department.
\nHigh school diploma or GED preferred, or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.<\/p>\n
License: Must have and maintain a valid driver\u2019s license issued by the State of Ohio and must remain insurable under the City of Medina\u2019s vehicle insurance plan.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS:<\/p>\n
Knowledge of:<\/p>\n
Semi-skilled maintenance and manual tasks;
\nTraffic and safety regulations; and
\nAccident prevention practices.<\/p>\n
Ability to:<\/p>\n
Communicate effectively in writing or orally with co-workers, supervisors and the general public in person or over a telephone or radio;
\nOperate equipment and machinery by both night and day;
\nOperate City radios in a professional manner;
\nLift at least 60 pounds on a regular basis;
\nPass a pre-employment drug test, physical examination, background check and Department of Motor Vehicle report;
\nObserve unsafe conditions of roadways; and
\nUnderstand and follow complex oral and written instructions.<\/p>\n

Hours:
\nTypically, 29 hours per week working M-F in the time frame 7a-3p. This can vary as there are yearly hour limits and opportunities to work additional hours outside the normal operating hours depending on weather conditions and work that needs to be done.<\/p>\n
Wage:
\nThis is a year-round Union Position that earns Vacation time and generous OPERS retirement benefits. Union pay rate is $21.68\/hour. CDL-B training is conducted on site and there is opportunity to for growth in all departments.<\/p>\n
